E-governance system implemented in 2019 to strengthen traffic and transportation

The State Government implemented e-governance system in the year 2019 to strengthen the traffic and transportation system in the State for public utility. This has led to reduction in road accidents, control on illegal transport and a big change in the functioning of the Transport Department has seen a big change. The State was awarded with Skoch award at the national level for this innovation.

The State Government also increased revenue by tightening the functioning of the transport department. This resulted in a nearly 8 percent increase in transportation revenue collection last year. Revenue of `1,782 crore was received till November in the year 2018-19 and `1,918.14 crore transportation revenue was collected till November in the year 2019-20. For the recovery of outstanding revenue, transport vehicles used for above 5 years and below 50 years were exempted in a systematic manner.

Free driving licence for women and college girls

According to the manifesto, 65 thousand free driving licenses were distributed to college going girls in the last one year. The new website of the Transport department, htpp: //www.transport.mp.gov.in was launched and made live in June 2019, in accordance with the disabled welfare standards. One lakh 11 thousand 898 learning licenses were issued to women, which was 15 percent more than the licenses issued last year. Decision was taken to organize free quarterly camps of a fixed duration till one year for women on November 19, 2019, the birth anniversary of the country’s first woman Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi observed as Priyadarshini Day and its implementation was started.

It was decided to set up an automated driving testing track on PPP mode in the state. It was started as a project. For its operation, work was started on the project by appointing CIRT as technical consultant.

Initially, PPP Mode Automated Fitness and Certification Centres are being established in 10 divisional transport offices.

After issuing permits to ensure smooth and efficient public transport system, the distance counter signature has been increased from 25 km to 250 km by the RTO.

GPS based vehicle tracking system has been made mandatory in public transport and commercial vehicles.

A Control and Command Centre is being established for its monitoring. It was decided to implement integrated web application system in the State for PUC centre. For this, the presentation of those institutions will be tested and further action will be taken after studying the system in other states.

Aggregator policy was issued to rent out maxi-cabs, motor cabs, auto-rickshaws and motorcycles in the state. With a view to ensuring safe transportation for students, Control and Regulation Scheme-2019 for educational vehicles has beenlaunched.
