A Village Employment Assistant in Baikunthpur in Chhattisgarh's Korea district has been sacked after he was accused of irregularities and a probe found him guilty.
Janpad Panchayat Baikunthpur, Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Rai, said in a statement that residents of village Amarpur complained that the Assistant, Rajkumar Sahu, had entered names of nine beneficiaries in ground levelling work. They were given lesser work but higher amount of wages was withdrawn against their names.
The villages demanded an investigation.
Rai said that a probe panel set up by the Zila Panchayat visited Amarpur and recorded the statements of villagers and evaluated the work done.
The team also found that Sahu did add names of nine beneficiaries under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Against the sanctioned work and amount, lesser work was allocated to the beneficiaries but full amount was filed through online.
Based on a report which found Sahu guilty, a recommendation was made for his termination.
Rai stated the report and recommendation was forwarded to Korea Collector Satya Narayan Rathor who terminated the Assistant from the service with immediate effect under the Contract Recruitment Rules 2012.
