BJP leader Sarat Mishra passed away due to heart attack at his house in native Khajuria village near Brahmagiri on Thursday. He was 70 and is survived by his two married sons and daughters.

Mishra was the district president of the BJP for four consecutive terms. His demise sent a shockwave not only among BJP leaders and workers but also among outsiders for his simplicity and cohesive attitude.

He was very popular for his cycle and Brahmincal sandal Tipa on forehead and Kurta-Pyjama wears, besides a betel-chewing mouth.

Even till recent time, he was pedalling to visit meeting places of the party.
