The State minister for Women Welfare and Child Development, Rekha Arya reviewed the department’s centrally funded and state implemented schemes here on Saturday. She focused on the schemes implemented by the department for the health, safety and employment of women in the state. The minister also reviewed the proposed plans for schemes to be launched by the state government in 2020-21 including CM Saubhagyavati Yojana, CM Mahila Poshan Yojana and CM Bal Sanjeevani Yojana. She directed the officials concerned to prepare a description of the schemes along with annual and district-wise comparative progress. Arya stressed on strengthening women self help groups in order to make the women self reliant. Expressing satisfaction at the improvement in the sex ratio in the state, the minister directed officials to further raise public awareness through supervisors and Anganwadi workers against sex determination. While reviewing the Mahila Shakti Kendra scheme, she sought information in detail about the 39 beneficiaries under the said scheme. While reviewing ICDS scheme implemented by the department, the minister directed the officials to mention in detail the supplementary nutrition provided to children, vaccination, health checks and referral services in the progress report.
She also directed the Women and Child Development secretary to initiate the process to soon fill the vacant posts of child development project officer to be filled through promotion. During the review of status of drinking water and toilet facilities in Anganwadi centres, the minister was informed that at present there are drinking water facilities in 15,621 Anganwadi centres and toilet facilities in 15,037 Anganwadi centres. The minister directed that drinking water facilities in the remaining 4,396 Anganwadi centres and toilet facilities in the remaining 4,980 Anganwadi centres should be provided soon under the Jal Jeevan Mission. She further directed that the funds allocated to 1,608 Anganwadi centres in 2019-20 be utilised swiftly. The minister was informed that 3,470 Anganwadi centres are functioning from their building. For 130 Anganwadi centres approved in 2019-20, the State government had approved Rs 1.50 lakh per building.
The minister also sought information in detail about one stop centre single window system services provided to women victims including assistance, protection, shelter, medical treatment and legal advice among other aspects. She also checked aspects of the Nirbhaya fund scheme, construction of working women’s hostel, Mahila Shakti Kendra schee and women integrated development scheme in detail.
