Further decline: State reports 3,067 positives

The State witnessed a downward trend in the Covid-19 cases for the third day on Tuesday with 3,067 new cases registered from all 30 districts and the State pool.With this, the infection tally rose to 2,15,676.Of the new cases, 1,809 were detected from quarantine and 1,258 were local contacts.

Khordha district again reported the day’s highest of 555 cases followed by Cuttack 230, Puri 178. Baleswar 146, Mayurbhanj 143, Angul 129, Sambalpur 98, Jharsuguda 96, Kendrapada 94, Dhenkanal 91, Nuapada 85, Jagatsinghpur 84, Kandhamal and Keonjhar 81 each, Balangir 78, Bargarh 69, Nayagarh 68, Sundargarh 62, Jajpur 60, Bhadrak 59, Nabarangpur 58, Koraput 55, Kalahandi 54, Boudh 45, Rayagada 41, Ganjam 34, Malkangiri 24, Subarnapur 22, Gajapati 21 and Deogarh 15.

Besides, 211 positive cases were detected from the State pool.Meanwhile, the State registered 15 more Covid casualties, which pushed the total death toll to 828. While Cuttack, Khordha and Baleswar districts reported three fatalities each, two persons succumbed in Puri while one death each was reported in Balangir, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur and Sundargarh.

The deceased in Khordha (Bhubaneswar) were a 73-year-old man, a 50-year-old man and a 60-year old man. The casualties in Cuttack included a 40-year-old man, a 62-year-old man and a 82-year-old woman.The deaths in Baleswar were of a 56-year-old man, a 61-year-old woman and a 70-year-old woman.
