Gajapati journalist succumbs to Covid

A day after 46-year-old journalist Priyadarshi Patnaik of Ganjam’s Hinjili died of Covid at the KIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar, another senior scribe in Gajapati district succumbed to the virus under treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

K CH Ratnam, who was working with the Telugu daily “Inadu”, was taken ill recently. He was first admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Gajapati here first. But he was later taken to the Hi-Tech Hospital in Bhubaneswar where he tested positive for Covid. He died of the virus while preparations were on to shift him to a Covid hospital.

MP Chandrasekhar Sahu, MLA K Narayan Rao, Hi-Tech College head Dr Tirupati Panigrahi, BJP State vice-president Bhrugu Baxipatra, BJD district president Pradeep Nayak, Mohana MLA Dasharathi Gomang, CPI district secretary Subash Chandra Rao, Gajapati Journalists’ Association president Garudadhwaj Choudhury, secretary Tarini Prasad Panda and many journalists mourned his deaths.
