Gender parity opens ways to understanding human behaviour: VC

Monday, 13 July 2020 | PNS | Mhow

Under the one month long web series of academic activities, a Special Web Lecture by Prof Asha Shukla, Vice Chancellor on  Social Formation of Gender and its Impact: Role of Gender Sensitisation was organised at B.R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, Ambedkar Nagar (MHOW).

While delivering her lecture she said that in the idealistic and materialistic ideologies, the sutra statement ‘we are all humans’ has been accepted.  Both men and women should be brought up as human being without gender discrimination. Gender parity and equality are very important aspects for developing a new dimension of human behaviour. If society is sensitive towards gender equality it should make subtle changes in self and conventional thinking and gender equality will have to be brought into society so that the interests of the entire population can be fulfilled. Due to gender bias and traditional stereotypes, women have to face physical, mental and psychological violence.

In the patriarchal system, girls are considered to be a financial burden and responsibility, which results in incidents like female foeticide. Gender equality should be seen in the economic evaluation of labor. We all have to act in the interest of humanity. Because it is not an issue of half of the population, but the issue related to the whole population.

Prof. D.K Verma stated in his welcome address that through education and awareness, we can remove the old conventional traditions of the society and move forward to bring gender sensitisation and equality. Prof. Kishor John offered the vote of thanks and the programme was conducted by Dr. Manoj Gupta.
