After remaining closed for more than six months, gymnasiums, bars and clubs are likely to reopen in the States soon. The State Government, based on Unlock 5 guidelines, issued relaxations for opening up of religious places. The Jharkhand Government on Thursday allowed places of worship to open outside the containment zones in the State from October 8. As per government directives Durga Puja will be permitted only at homes, temples and small pandals without public participation.

However, the Government is yet to take any decision on reopening gymnasiums, clubs and bars. The Government for taking final decision on this issue has formed a high level committee comprising chief secretary and other officers.

State finance minister Rameshwar Oraon said, "The government has constituted a high level committee for taking final decision on reopening of clubs, gymnasiums and bars. It is all likely that these services will reopen after October 15."

Oraon further said that with respect to reopening of schools and other educational institutions the state government will follow Centre’s directives.

He said, "As the Centre is going to take a decision on reopening of schools and other educational institutions after October 31, the State Government will follow the centre's directives."

The minister claimed that as the virus chain is yet to be broken, parents are afraid of sending kids to schools and in such situations the state government doesn't want to put children at risk.

Oraon claimed that the state government will follow Centre and High Court directives on reopening of courts.

Apart from educational institutions, courts no decision on reopening of interstate buses, multiplexes has been taken.

Bus operators claimed that as interstate bus services are yet to resume they are facing huge financial loss.

In unlock 5 the biggest relaxation is for religious places especially with upcoming Durga Puja. Though the government has allowed Durga Puja celebrations, several restrictions have been made such as that the government has limited the height of idols of Durga Puja pandals to 4 feet and said that no lighting or extravagant decorations would be allowed as per the order.

The Government order also states that the public will not be allowed to visit or participate in the community puja pandals which should be small in size. Separate guidelines will be issued for performing rituals.
