Govt making efforts to bring State economy back on track

With the opening of the lockdown in the State, the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is constantly making efforts to bring back the economy of the State on track. For this, he has ensured continuous works especially for the labourers.

In view of the Covid-19 crisis, works on large scale have been started by the State Government. In total, 4247 works costing Rs 38701.51 crore have been started and 20,745 labourers have been employed in these works.

As per the intention of the Chief Minister, the Principal Secretary of the Public works department Neeraj Mandloi is constantly monitoring the works of the department. Along with this, emphasis is being laid to ensure employment to the maximum number of labourers by reviewing the works of the Public Works Department, Project Implementation Unit and Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation daily.

Under the Engineer in Chief, Public Works department, 3394 works worth Rs 28,211.73 crore have been started and 1,427 labourers have been employed for these works. Similarly, under the Engineer in Chief, Road Development Corporation, 85 works costing Rs 5,099.15 crore have been started and employment has been given to 2012 labourers in these works. Under the Project Director, Project Implementation Unit, 768 works worth Rs 5390.63 crore have been started and employment has been given to 17,306 labourers in these works.

Under the Public Works Department, 144 contractual works costing Rs 705.80 lakh in Sagar zone, 241 contractual works costing Rs 151542.45 lakh in Ujjain, 326 contractual works worth Rs 161794.34 lakh in Gwalior, 208 contractual works costing Rs 310439 lakh in Setu Pariksehtra Bhopal, 28 road construction contractual works costing Rs 452826.71 lakh in Bhopal zone, 324 contractual works costing Rs 99268.86 lakh in Central Zone Jabalpur, 360 contractual works worth Rs  112647 lakh in Rewa zone, 211 contractual works costing Rs. 159262.68 lakh in West Zone Indore and 391 contractual works costing Rs 205609.89 lakh are underway.

The Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation has also re-started the construction activities. Under these activities, 2012 labourers have been employed in total 85 re-started works in various districts. The total cost of the re-started works is over Rs 5099 crore.
