A move by Nepal to construct an illegal road on no man’s land on the Indo-Nepal border was thwarted by the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday.
Pilibhit District Magistrate Vahaibav Srivastava told media person on Tuesday that he along with police and Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) officials reached the spot and stopped illegal road construction work undertaken by Nepal on Sunday
Nepal had started constructing roads from pillar numbers 38 to 39 in Raghav Puri village under Hazara police station of Pilibhit. On the Nepal side, the road was to be connected with Hulali highway near Pachwi village.
SSB personnel immediately swung into action and informed the district administration about the road construction.
After intervention, the road construction was stopped by Nepal. It was also decided that a meeting of the officials of both the countries would be held soon to resolve the issue.
A few days back, pillar number 39 was broken and it was proposed to erect a new pillar.
The district magistrate said an illegal road was being constructed near the new pillar number 39, which was broken.
