The Delhi Government will constitute five-member committee to overview and monitor the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 as on Sunday, Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam chaired a review meeting on implementation of the law.
“I have the Department of Women and Child Development to constitute a five-member committee to overview and monitor the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The composition may include some government officers, the non-government organisation sector and members civil society,” Gautam said.
To provide safe and secure environment for women in Government and non-government sectors, Gautam instructed to convene a meeting through video conferencing with Government department Heads in the first phase in order to have an interface regarding the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act at their respective departments.
The Department was directed to ensure the issuance of advertisements, in form of display and text notices, for creating awareness among citizens along with all Government and Private sector entities on the provisions, facilitation, and penalty clauses of the Act.
For this, the Department of Women and Child Development has organized several workshops along with a media campaign.
The Department has also issued necessary instructions on a regular basis to all the departments of the Delhi govt, autonomous bodies, and private sector companies for the constitution of the internal committee.
Even all District Magistrates are instructed for the constitution of the local committee as a statutory requirement under the Act.
The meeting was attended by the Senior Officers of the Department of Women and Child Development of Government.
