Gurugram reports one new Covid deaths, toll 102

The death toll due to Covid-19 in Gurugram has reached 102 with one more death, health officials said on Tuesday.

Gurugram, which has the highest number of coronavirus deaths among other districts in Haryana, also reported 123 fresh cases. The district has 6,183 patients and 5,117 of them have recuperated from their illness.Gurugram now has 964 active cases and 732 of them are in home isolation, officials added.

Virender Yadav, Civil Surgeon of Gurugram, said that the administration has intensified contact tracing in containment zones.

Also, the district health authority will soon get arount 10,000 more rapid antigen kits. Earlier they had 8,000 antigen kits.

“In the last 13 days, 10,000 people have been tested for corona in Gurugram through rapid antigen test kits and 347 of them were found positive. Now, for the prevention of corona, the district administration and health department of Gurugram have insisted on testing more and more persons,” Yadav said.

Gurugram has eight such containment zones where infection rate was high. “We have initiated door to door screening in these zones to identify suspects. We are using the rapid antigen kit to test suspects," he said.

"We are offering free of charge tests in 13 centres in the city and have also appealed to residents who are having symptoms to reach these centres for testing," he added.
