Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Saturday said that both the 'Food Testing Laboratories' running in the State for testing food standards in the State will be upgraded to National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) level. For this, an amount Rs 16.15 crore have been released by the State Government.
The Health Minister said that State Food Laboratory, Chandigarh and District Food Laboratory, Karnal are working for testing of food items in the State. An amount of Rs. 14.55 crore has been released by FSSAI for the up-gradation of these laboratories and for the purchase of equipment.
He informed that an amount of Rs.1.6 crore will be spent by the State Government on the up-gradation of the infrastructure of the Chandigarh laboratory, while an amount of Rs 9.55 crore will be spent on the purchase of modern equipment for this laboratory.
The lab is undergoing renovation, which will be completed soon. This laboratory has also applied for NABL certificate, which is likely to be received soon, informed Vij.
Vij informed that for the up-gradation of District Food Laboratory, Karnal, an amount to the tune of Rs. 5 crore has been provided by FSSAI. Renovation work in this laboratory will be started soon with the permission of FSSAI. The layout plan of this laboratory is also under process for approval of FSSAI experts.
