Haryana reports 13 deaths, 1,391 fresh cases

13 more people succumbed to the COVID-19 in Haryana, bringing the death toll to 2,624, while 1,391 new cases raised the state's infection tally to 2,46,679 on Tuesday.

The new fatalities included four from Hisar and two each from Bhiwani, Kaithal and Fatehabad districts, as per the state Health Department's daily bulletin.

Among the districts which reported a big spike in fresh COVID-19 cases included Gurugram (418) and Faridabad (277).  Haryana has 11,947 active cases of the novel coronavirus and a recovery rate of 94.09 per cent, the bulletin added.

The neighboring Punjab reported 30 more deaths due to COVID-19 which pushed the death toll to 4,964 while 500 new cases took the infection count to 1,57,331.

Four deaths each were reported from Patiala, Mohali, Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana, three from Jalandhar, two each from Barnala, Fazilka and Pathankot, and one each from Amritsar, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur and Rupnagar, according to the state’s medical bulletin.

There are 7,274 active COVID-19 cases in the state as of now.

 Ludhiana reported 80 new cases, followed by 70 in Mohali and 66 in Amritsar. A total of 792 COVID-19 patients were discharged after they recovered from the infection, taking the number of cured persons to 1,45,093, the bulletin said.

14 critical patients are on ventilator support, while 163 are on oxygen support, the bulletin said.

Three more deaths due to COVID-19 in Chandigarh pushed the toll to 296 on Tuesday, while 126 fresh cases took the infection count to 18,239.

The city has 962 active COVID-19 cases, according to the Chandigarh Health Department’s bulletin.

A total of 82 patients were discharged after they recovered from the infection, taking the number of cured persons to 16,981. So far, 1,54,396 samples have been taken for testing and of them, 1,35,318 tested negative while reports of 137 samples were awaited, the bulletin added.
