nIn a major relief to the Congress-led government, the Chhattisgarh High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition challenging the appointment of retired IAS official Alok Shukla on contractual basis in May.
Justice Goutam Bhaduri said the government exercised the power of relaxation of rule 17 of Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Contractual Appointment) Rules 2012 to appoint him, Shukla’s counsel Aayush Bhatia told The Pioneer.
Shukla was given additional charges of Chairman of Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board and Principal Secretary in Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Department.
BJP leader Naresh Chandra Gupta had filed a writ petition challenging the contractual appointment of Shukla.
