The Orissa High Court on Thursday decided to hear the respondents, including the State Government, on June 9 on a writpetition challenging the December 20, 2019 letter of the OrissaElectricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) in which the commission hasdecided to sell the Central Electricity Supply Utility (Ceesu) to thesuccessful bidder Tata Power Company.
The Nikhila Odisha Bidyut Mahasangha has challenged the OERC letter in the court on the grounds that statutory rules havenot yet been finalised regarding the status of the present Cesuemployees and it has also not been decided as to which company wouldpay the arrear dues of the retired employees.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq andJustice Dr BR Sarangi heard the matter. The OERC has also filed anaffidavit in this regard and it was instructed that copies of theaffidavit would be served on all parties.
