The State on Sunday registered as many as 129 Covid-19 cases, the highest single-day hike in positive cases recorded since reporting of the first case on March 21. With this, the total cases rose to 1,948.
Out of the 129, the highest 18 cases were reported from Kendrapada district followed by 16 in Gajapati district, 12 in Nuapada, 11 in Balangir, 10 each in Ganjam and Jajpur districts and seven in Khordha district.
Bargarh, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh and Baleswar districts registered six cases each. Five cases were reported from Cuttack district, four cases each from Puri and Deogarh districts, the Health and Family Welfare Department said.
Out of the total cases, 119 were from quarantine centres and 10 were local.
However, 76 more patients recovered from the disease on the day, taking the total number of recovery cases to 1,126.
Of the recoveries, 17 were from Kendrapada district, 16 from Ganjam, 11 each from Nayagarh and Kalahandi districts, five from Jajpur, three each from Baleswar and Mayurbhanj, two each from Angul and Jagatsinghpur and one each from Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Puri, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts.
