Himachal CM says 294 temporary posts to be filled by medical institutions due to Covid situation

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday said that in view of the spread of Covid-19 and to cope with the pandemic, the State Government has decided to authorize all the six government medical colleges, Zonal hospitals of Shimla and Dharamshala and Civil Hospitals, Rohru and Rampur to hire manpower temporarily on outsourcing basis through authorized service provider agencies till March 31, 2021. 

The Chief Minister was presiding over the meeting through video conferencing from Pathankot with senior officers of the Health Department.

Thakur said that the Principals of the Medical Colleges and controlling officers of these hospitals have been directed to take necessary action immediately and send a compliance report to the State Government within three days.

He said that this decision had been taken to ensure adequate manpower to effectively handle the situation in the state.

Elaborating, the Chief Minister said that 130 nurses, 75 lab technicians, 79 class-IV and 10 data entry operators would be temporarily recruited on an outsource basis.

Out of these 15 nurses, 15 lab technicians, 15 class-IV and one data entry operator would be employed in IGMC, Shimla, 15 nurses 10 lab technicians, 12 class-IV and one data entry operator would be recruited in Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda, 15 nurses, 10 lab technicians, 12 class-IV and one data entry operator would be recruited in Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Mandi at Nerchowk

10 nurses, 10 lab technicians,  10 class-IV employees and one data entry operator would be employed in Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, 10 nurses, 10 lab technicians, 5 class-IV and one data entry operator would be employed in Dr. Radha Krishan Government Medical College, Hamirpur and 10 nurses, 10 lab technicians, 5 class-IV and one data entry operator would be recruited in Dr. Y.S. Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, he added.

The Chief Minister further said that the State Government has also deployed five medical officers each on temporary basis in Deen Dayal Upadhayay, Zonal Hospital at Shimla, Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Mandi at Ner Chowk, Zonal Hospital Dharamshala and Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, Chamba   taking into consideration the excess number of doctors than the prescribed norms at a particular station  from various health institutions of the state in order to handle the COVID-19 situation more effectively.

The Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi assured the Chief Minister that all these temporarily would be completed within three days.
