One of the COVID-designated hospitals has declined to offer a portion of his hospital for admission of the COVID patients. NH-33 based Uma Superspeciality Hospital, on Monday refused to extend any facility for the treatment of the COVID patients.
A team of East Singhbhum district surveillance officials had visited the Uma Superspeciality Hospital, located near Big Bazaar along the NH-33 in Mango for inspection of the hospital prior to sending COVID patients there, but the hospital management refused to provide any such facility for the treatment of the COVID patients.
District surveillance officer, Dr AK Lal who led the surveillance team said the management of Uma Superspeciality Hospital had in April given their commitment to dedicate 50 beds for a special COVID ward in the hospital which has 100 beds with the facility of ventilators.
“The attitude of the hospital management is regrettable. We are left with no option than to recommend for the cancellation of the hospital’s license. Had there been any problem for setting up a COVID ward in that hospital, then the hospital management should not have given their commitment. We would have done alternative arrangements then,” said Lal.
About 16 more persons have tested Coronavirus positive from the district, thus making the total number of COVID-19 cases to 503, which included two deaths.
