Identify sectors to facilitate jobs for people through UPNL, directs CM

Friday, 26 June 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

Some special sectors should be identified wherein people can be provided employment. As per the requirement, recruitments can be made through Uttarakhand Purv Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) in various sectors.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this while chairing a meeting with officials to discuss measures for increasing employment opportunities for people of the state.

The CM observed that more personnel need to be deployed in health, sanitation and technical spheres. Rawat said that first priority will be given to ex-servicemen and dependents of servicemen in recruitments through UPNL. Others will be recruited if ex-servicemen and dependents of servicemen are not available in some sphere. After identification of various areas for jobs, UPNL will start the registration process. For this, applications can be submitted till the end of this financial year- March 31, 2021. Rawat directed officials to identify some areas where according to the situation and demand, people of the state especially ex-servicemen, dependents of servicemen and women groups can undergo skill development through UPNL.

In view of Covid-19, the CM said that in large cities like Dehradun and Haldwani multi-service centres should be established for senior citizens who are unable to venture out of their homes due to various reasons.

Services can be provided at adequate rates through UPNL for the convenience of senior citizens. As the record of the service provider will be available with the corporation, it will also enhance the reliability, he added.

Chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, UPNL managing director, brigadier (retd) PPS Pahwa and other officers concerned were also present in the meeting.
