Detailed information about the State’s industrial parks and estates, infrastructure and communication on real time basis would be available at a click of a computer mouse soon.
This would be possible due to the Industrial Information System (IIS) mooted by the Union Government.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has invited the State Government to participate in the launching of the IIS.
The State Government would share its real time information with the IIS to help all corporations, including global ones, know about infrastructure and facilities available in the State and invest in a big way, said an official.
While there are 3,376 industrial parks, estates and areas in the country covering 4.76 lakh hectares, Odisha is having 114 such parks till date.
The IIS will ensure regular updating of data. For this, standard guidelines have already been shared with the State.
Recently, Minister Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman announced that a scheme will be implemented in States for Industrial Cluster Upgradation of common infrastructure facilities and connectivity.
Information related to land bank for promoting new investments would be available on IIS GIS Mapping.
A number of global corporations are envisaging lot of interest in Odisha and they are eyeing for manufacturing hub.The IIS would provide an easy access to the latest information source to the global investors.
In fact, a number of global investors are looking for an alternate destination to China for setting up of manufacturing hub and such facilities would attract those investors, said experts.
“Upgrading existing industrial infrastructure, providing information on industrial parks and mapping on GIS would help the investors in identification of locations. The IIS will also promote competitiveness among the States by ranking industrial estates and parks,” said a senior official in the Industries Department.
