Impractical guidelines have stalled tourism, complain hoteliers

Facing difficulties due to the effect of Covid-19 pandemic on their business, members of the hotel association in Nainital met the local MLA Sanjeev Arya here on Thursday.

The association head Dinesh Sah informed the MLA about the problems being faced by those in the hotel and tourism business due to the lockdown enforced to check the spread of Covid-19.

He said that the impractical guidelines issued by the State government the tourism business has come to a standstill which has increased the threat of unemployment in the future.

Sah told the MLA that tourists should be allowed to visit the state after undergoing a rapid antigen test at the state border. The quarantine period for tourists coming from outside the state should be reduced from seven days to three days. Arya said that the Covid-19 pandemic had caused problems across the nation.

He said that the Covid problem is likely to last for a long time. The MLA further said that he would get the issues of the hoteliers raised through cabinet minister Yashpal Arya in the cabinet meeting slated to be held on August 13. A solution to their problems will be ascertained soon, he assured.

 Arya further said that a demand will be raised to simplify the guidelines issued by the state government considering the convenience and safety of the people.
