Punjab Guv accepts resignation of VC Punjabi varsity

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore has accepted the resignation of Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala Dr. BS Ghuman. According to a spokesperson of Chief Minister’s Office, Additional Chief Secretary Forests and Wildlife Ravneet Kaur has been given the charge of VC until further orders. Meanwhile, the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has asked the Higher Education department to initiate the selection of New VC. Dr Ghuman had tendered his resignation to the Punjab Governor on November 17.

HP Guv administer Constitution oath to officials

Shimla: Himachal Governor Bandaru Dattatraya administered the oath of the Constitution to Raj Bhavan officials here on Thursday to mark the 71st anniversary of the Constitution Day. The Constitution Day, also known as the National Law Day, is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950.

HP CM congratulates NZ’s MP Gaurav Sharma

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has congratulated Dr. Gaurav Sharma who has been elected to the Parliament of New Zealand recently. Dr. Gaurav Sharma hails from Hadeta village of Hamirpur district. He became the first parliamentarian of Indian origin who had taken oath in Sanskrit in New Zealand. Expressing his pleasure, the Chief Minister said that Dr Gaurav has brought pride to the country by taking oath in Sanskrit in a foreign country.

Balbir Singh Sidhu gives appointment letters to 160 candidates

Chandigarh: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu gave the appointment letters to 160 candidates. He said, 160 appointment letters are issued under the Ghar-Ghar Rojgar Yojna. This includes 102 radiographers, 52 OT assistants, and 6 ECG technicians. All appointments under the department are being made based on merit transparently. Sidhu congratulated the newly appointed staff of the Health Department and their families and urged them to discharge their responsibilities honestly and diligently.

HP CM address public rallies

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while addressing public rallies at Mahanpur and Basholi  Kathua region of Jammu and Kashmir in favour of BJP candidates for elections of District Development Council, said that all the opposition parties are working on single agenda  to counter the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by propagating false accusations. He said, people of the country are rock solid behind the strong and able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is committed to make India a strong and vibrant Nation.

Hry police arrests a convict

Chandigarh: Haryana Police has arrested a convict, who was on the run for about 10 years after jumping parole in a case of murder that he committed in 2007, from Madhya Pradesh. A spokesperson informed that arrested accused was identified as Jaan Mohd alias Janu, a resident of district Nuh. A court had sentenced him to life imprisonment. He had been lodged in Bhondsi (Gurugram) jail before he was granted parole in 2010. As he failed to return, the court had declared him a proclaimed offender. DGP Haryana had also announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest.

Hry Police HQ celebrates Constitution Day

Chandigarh: Constitution Day was celebrated at the Haryana Police Headquarters on Thursday in the presence of Director General of Police, (DGP) Manoj Yadava and other senior officers. Yadava read out the Preamble of the Constitution of India in the presence of a large number of officers and staff members who attended the Constitution Day celebration ceremony. He said, it was on November 26, 1949, when our Constitution was adopted and given to the nation. The day marks the beginning of a new era in the history of the Indian Republic. It is everyone’s responsibility to follow the constitution to maintain the integrity and sovereignty of the country, he added.
