Ambassadors Of Hope receives 1.05l entries

Chandigarh: As many as 1,05,898 school going students have shared their videos for Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla’s campaign, ‘Ambassadors of Hope’, which was launched for students of the State to share their creativity during lockdown. “Campaign created a world record as never in the past so many students participated in an online video competition concluded in eight days. Currently, Cebu City Commission (a government body) of Phillipines, holds the record of highest participation as they had got 43,157 participants in eight days long online competition,” said Singla.

PSSSB declares result of exam for FSO

Chandigarh: In the most challenging times, working with skeletal staff, Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has declared the result of exam conducted for the post of Food Safety Officers. Informing PSSSB chairman Raman Bahl said that result has been uploaded on Board’s website — punjabsssb.gov.in, and the process of recruitment would be completed soon by holding counseling of candidates as per the merit, as soon as travel restrictions are lifted and normalcy returns to the day to day affairs.

First international webinar on covid-19 held

Chandigarh: Panjab University’s University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) on Wednesday organized the first International Pharmaceutical Sciences Webinar through Cisco Web-Ex meetings. Prof D Samba Reddy from Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics, College of Medicine, Texas A&M University, Texas, USA, held a scientific conversation and interactive session on Coronavirus, and gave an elaborative account of scientific-based facts of Covid-19, its targets, prevention, new vaccines and anti-viral medicines, and common tips of surviving the outbreak.

Pb Depot holders go on an indefinite strike

Chandigarh: Punjab Depot holders on Wednesday go on an indefinite strike in protest against the rising number of attacks on them during distribution of central relief among 35 lakh blue card holders of the State under Covid relief measures. “A depot holder was murdered in Kapurthala and another grievously injured in Amritsar while distributing ration. The government must ensure safety to those who are taking risk of distributing ration among the masses,” said Punjab Depot Holders Union president Gurjinder Singh Sidhu. They are also demanding an insurance cover of Rs  50 lakh as well as a series of safety arrangements to all depot holders of Punjab.

Uber offers free rides to PGIMER’s staffers

Chandigarh: Uber on Wednesday offered free rides to Chandigarh’s Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) for transporting frontline healthcare workers through its UberMedic service which will be available 24X7. All the UberMedic cars being provided to PGIMER are being fitted with a roof-to-floor plastic sheeting enclosing the driver, thereby limiting contact with the rider. Additionally, to maintain safety and hygiene standards, all drivers are being trained in safety procedures and being provided with personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, sanitizers and disinfectants to sanitize the cars between rides.

Malls approach Govts for phased opening

Chandigarh: The Shopping Centres Association of India (SCAI) has reached out to Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other officials with a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for the reopening of Malls. A representation has also been sent to the UT Administrator V.P. Singh Badnore besides other officials of the UT Administration. SCAI has asserted and collectively with industry captains, endorsed the ability of shopping centres to enforce protocols in a far more efficient manner than many others who have benefited from the relaxation. SCAI said it is hopeful that the government will consider and intervene to support the shopping centres industry to protect 12-million livelihoods that could be at risk as the fate of organised retail remains uncertain.

M Shakeel spreads info on Covid-19 in Urdu

Chandigarh: The scientists of India are working at many different levels in the fight against Coronavirus. Last month when PM Modi had addressed the youth scientists of the nation regarding the creation of covid 19 vaccine, the most prestigious bio research centre NCBS and in STEM accepted this challenge immediately. Along with this they also took up an initiative of releasing a video series in all Indian Languages to inform people about ways of preventing the spread of this disease. The young scientists explain what the virus is and how to stay safe from it in the videos.
