Wesco JE caught taking bribe in Nuapada
Nuapada: The Vigilance police on Wednesday arrested Wesco Junior Engineer (JE) Raj Kishore Sahu on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe. Acting on a complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Sahu red-handed while he was accepting the bribe, which he had demanded from a farmer for providing electricity connection to his Lift Irrigation Point. Following his arrest, separate Vigilance teams conducted raid simultaneously on his rented house at Nuapda and ancestral house in Jagatsinghpur.
Actress Jyotsna Dash passes away
Brahmapur: Odia film actress and former St Vincent Convent School, Brahmapur teacher Jyotsna Dash passed away here on Tuesday. She was 63. A resident of the city, Dash had acted in films like ‘Samay’ ‘Abhiman’, ‘Sati Anusaya’, ‘Upendra Bhanj’, “Phata Kapala’. Also as a noted theatre actress, she had performed in many State-level drama competitions in various districts. She was the eldest daughter of poet Jamesh Dash and elder sister of musician Jatin Dash and scribe Jyoti Ranjan Dash.
PNB opens 1st Zonal Office in State
Bhubaneswar: Ashwani Kumar has assumed the charge as the Punjab National Bank’s Zonal Manager (ZM) of Bhubaneswar Zone, the bank’s first Zonal Office, under which there are five circles and 371 branches across the State. He stated that consequent upon the merger of OBC and UBI with PNB, a strong entity, the second largest public-sector bank has emerged in the country.
