HP CM pays obeisance to Guru Nanak Dev on Prakash Parv

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, on the occasion of 551 years of prakash parv of Guru Nanak Dev, visited Sri Gurudwara Sahib, Bus Stand, Shimla, on Monday and paid his obeisance. The Chief Minister was presented a ‘siropa’ by the President of Shri Gurudwara Singh Sabha Prabandhak Committee Shimla Jasvinder Singh. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar and Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj were present on the occasion among others.

157 units of blood collected at voluntary  camp

Chandigarh: Thalassaemic Charitable Trust PGIMER-GMCH, Chandigarh, organized its 207th Blood Donation Camp at PGIMER, Chandigarh — the fourth camp in November — collecting 157 units of blood from the voluntary blood donors for Thalassaemias and other serious patients. The Trust has, so far, organized 24 Blood Donation Camps since June 6 and has mobilized more than 2060 units of blood from voluntary donors during COVID-19 lockdown period.

Haryana police arrests a drug peddler

Chandigarh: Haryana Police has arrested an alleged drug peddler after seizing 400 kg doda post from his possession in Jind district. A spokesperson said that a huge stock of doda post had been seized during a raid conducted at a shop by a team of the Crime Investigation Agency. After getting a secret input, the police team immediately conducted a raid at a shop located at Dhakal road, Narwana, and seized 21 bags of doda post containing a total of 400 kg drugs. The estimated value of seized drugS, being smuggled from Madhya Pradesh for supply in Punjab, was around Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh.

ICIIS 2020 successful in virtual mode at IIT Ropar

Ropar: The IIT Ropar saw a massive online gathering of internationally-renowned experts and delegates from more than eight countries including Sri Lanka, USA, Italy, Denmark, Australia, Germany, Sweden and Japan for the 15th (IEEE) International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS) 2020, which was conducted in a virtual mode, for the first time in the last 15 years of the history of the conference, during November 26-28. The conference is held alternately in India and Sri Lanka and several first generation IITs already hosted it, while it is for the first time held in a new generation IIT.
