Sanitary pad machine at Girls Hostel

A sanitary pad vending machine was installed by Charitable Charms Association on July 6 at Eklavya Girls Hostel, Hotwar where about 200 players from boxing, weight lifting and football among others live. Jharkhand Pradesh Professional Congress President Aditya Vikram Jaiswal inaugurated the machine and said that by installing sanitary pad vending machines women will have less health related problems. President of Charitable Charms Association said that with this initiative women players will become self reliant and will be able to focus on their sport. Rotary Club Secretary Deepak Shrivastava, Khyati Munjal, Dr Shipra Sharan and others were present on the occasion.

 

Webinar on Cyber Safety at SBPS

Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi organised a webinar on Cyber Safety for its students here on Monday. Abhay Dogra, a former teacher, programmer and trainer was the resource person. He apprised the students of various threats posed to them online and how to keep themselves safe from cyber crime. He aquainted the students of Cyber Bullying, Cyberstalking, detrimental online games such as PUBG, Blue Whale, Carmageddon, etc. He even spoke about the desire among the children and the young adults to have an extremely impressive profile online, Cyber Crime Laws in India, identification of fake id’s and making or changing of passwords.

 

Van Mahotsav celebrated at SCS

In an attempt to sensitise students about their role in conserving the environment, Surendranath Centenary Scholl celebrated Van Mahotsav week from July 1 to July 7. The focus of the celebration was to form a personal connection between students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation which was done through various activities. Students of classes UKG to II took selfy with plants and made collages with different leaves while students of class III to V made posters and wrote slogans. Students of class VI composed a song while class VII participated in slogan writing and class VIII made posters on the topic ‘Green Earth, Clean Earth’. Students of class XI an X wrote poems and articles.

 

WJA condemns FIR against UP journalist

The national unit of Working Journalists Association of India has strongly condemned the filing of an FIR against senior journalist Arvind Kumar Singh and representatives of social organisations for raising an issue of public interest in Azamgarh and demanding an inquiry against the practices of private hospitals. National President Sanjay Singh has demanded that the Uttar Pradesh DGP conduct an unbiased investigation of the entire case and also take action against the officer who filed. Describing it as an attack on the fourth pillar, BSPS National President said that police are always in a rush to register a case against journalists.

Amazon eliminates single-use plastic

Amazon India today announced that it has achieved a significant milestone in its efforts towards sustainability by eliminating all single-use plastic in packaging originating from its 50 plus fulfilment centers in India. In September 2019 the company had pledged to meet this goal in an accelerated timeframe by June 2020, in an effort to build an environmentally sustainable supply chain.  In December 2019 when the company replaced plastic packaging material, such as bubble wraps and air pillows, with ‘paper cushion’ in its packaging. The company then introduced 100% plastic-free and biodegradable paper tape earlier this year, which is used to seal and secure customer shipments. Additionally, the company has replaced thin cling films for customer deliveries among other material with packaging options that are not single-use plastic in nature.
