Jeevan Bindu blood donation camp
Keonjhar: A Jeevan Bindu-Mo Parivar blood donation camp was held at the Luxminarayan High School, Ramchandrapur, on Wednesday. Total 80 units of blood were collected. Jeevan Bindu State coordinator MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak inaugurated the programme. Keonjhar district MLAs Badrinarayan Patra, Jagannath Naik and Meenakshi Mahanta, district BJD president Madhab Sardar, MP Chandrani Murmu, Soumya Sekhar Chakra and Anjan Bej, president and secretary of BJD Youth Committee, Keonjhar, Pradeep Sahoo, coordinator, district Jeevan Bindu-Mo Parivar Committee, were present.
73 pieces of sal logs seized in Pallahara
Pallahara: As many as 73 pieces of sal logs and a van carrying them were seized at Choraghati in the Pallahara area by Khamar Forest Range Officer Kajal Kumari Nayak on Tuesday night. The logs were stolen from Boitasarei forest, said Forester Kiran Bala Nanda. The approximate cost of the seized sal logs would be Rs 2 lakh. A person named Rasananda Pradhan was arrested and forwarded to court on the charge of stealing timber.
Vedanta distributes 1000 fruit-tree saplings
Jharsuguda: The Vedanta Limited on Wednesday distributed more than 1,000 saplings of fruit bearing trees to about 200 farmers for creation of backyard orchards in their homesteads in villages in Jharsuguda. The saplings were distributed under the company’s livelihood programme, Jeevika Samridhhi. Famers can supplement their diet with organically-grown nutritious fruits and vegetables from their own backyards, besides earning a living. The saplings were of high-yielding varieties of papaya, drumstick, lemon, guava and Indian jujube. Farmers were also oriented about plantation, care, harvesting and marketing. Earlier, Vedanta had also distributed 1,000 such trees earlier.
