Another doctor dies of Covid

Cuttack: Another frontline Covid warrior in the State died due to the viral infection on Thursday. Dr Nikunj BIhari Das passed away due to Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at the Ashwini Hospital here. Das, who was working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Medicine of Hitech Medical College Hospital, contracted the infection in the line of duty.

AIIMS donates livelihood kits to PwDs

Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director Dr Gitanjali Batmanabane donated livelihood tool kits to 21 persons with disabilities (PwDs), who have been trained by National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (NCSCDA), Bhubaneswar. The livelihood kits include four multifunctional sewing machines, eitht welding kits, three mobile repairing kits, three AC repairing kits, three electrical kits. Dr Gitanjali distributed the kits on the occasion of the birthday of her granddaughter Advaita, who is in Canada. NCSCDA Head Ram Kishor Sharma appreciated Dr Gitanjali’s initiative.

Vedanta gives job to footballer Tanuja

Jharsuguda: Former National Women Football player Tanuja Baghe has been given a job as sports coordinator in the JMD Company, an associate of the Vedanta Aluminium Company Limited. In the chamber of district Collector SK Samal, Vedant CEO Chhabinath Singh gave the appointment letter to Tanuja in the presence of ADM PK Sahoo, District Sports Officer SK Mishra and senior officers of Vedanta Company Chandrasekhar Sahoo, Sanjeeb Patnaik, N Sundarraj and Pranay Satpathy. Notably, Sports and Youth Services Minister Tusharkanti Behera had asked for assistance to Baghe, who was earning her livelihood by herding goats and also working as a housemaid.

Inter-State ganja racket busted in Mohana 

Paralakhemundi: On the instruction of Gajapati SP Tapan Kumar Patnaik, the Mohana police seized a truck that contained 688.420 kg of ganja valued at Rs 35 lakh on Friday. The contraband was being transported from Antarba to Jharkhand. Truck driver Indradev Yadav smd helper Jaguram Dhobi both belong to Chatra of Jharkhand. They were arrested in the presence of Mohana Tehsildar Kalyani Sanghamitra Devi and Mohana PS IIC Sujit Kumar Nayak.

14th TVW being observed in TSLPL 

Champua: The Tata Steel Long Product Ltd (TSLPL), a Tata group company situated at Bilaipada under Joda block of Keonjhar district, is observing voluntary week (TVW) from September 5 to October 7. The TSLPL employees are rendering voluntary services in the peripheral villages which include education, healthcare, Covid-19 awareness, stress management and sustainability. While maintaining social distancing, both online and offline methods of instructions are being followed. The programme is the 14th edition of TVW.
