Minorities demand reserved Assembly seat
Bhubaneswar: The Dr Naveen Badanayak Foundation held a workshop here for the minority of Gajapati district and demanded for an Assembly seat for the minority communities in 2024 general elections. Panchayati Raj, H&UD Minister Pratap Jena, who attended as chief guest, said his Govt has taken a lot of initiatives for the development of minorities, tribals and common people at large, particularly in Gajapati district. Rajya Sabha member Muna Khan joined as guest of honour. Many delegates demanded a reserved seat in the Assembly for the Christian community. Bishop Dr Pallab Lima may be given a BJD ticket to contest from Gajapati in 2024 polls, they said.
CRPF jawan cremated in Jagatsinghpur
Jagatsinghpur: The mortal remains of CRPF jawan Ranjan Mohanty, who was martyred at Srinagar on November 18, were cremated in his native village Chhatiana under Jamugaon panchayat in Naugaon block on Thursday. Earlier, the CRPF headquarters at Srinagar had sent body to his family members. The body was taken to the village crematorium by a procession of hundreds of local residents, including prominent personalities.
B’pur St Vincent’s School celebrates Constitution Day
Brahmapur: To Commemorate the adaption of the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949. The St Vincent’s Convent School here organised virtual competitions like speech, slogan writing and painting competitions on Friday for Classes-I to X. A total of 180 students participated in the competitions. The best speakers and artists were awarded.
