Jai Ram Thakur releases Giriraj Weekly Newspaper
Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday released Calendar-2021 of Giriraj Weekly newspaper of the State Government depicting the panoramic picture of the Atal Tunnel Rohtang. The Chief Minister said that Giriraj Weekly newspaper has its grass root level reach which provides the people of Himachal a glimpse of policies and programmes of the State Government besides providing knowledge regarding traditions and customs of the state. This year's Giriraj calendar has a picture of world famous Atal Tunnel, Rohtang dedicated by the Prime Minister to the Nation on October 3 this year, he added.
Punjab felicitates students placed in job fair
Chandigarh: A felicitation-cum-interaction ceremony was organized virtually with the students, who were selected during the high end job fair in December wherein Punjab Employment Generation and Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi congratulated the students for their successful placements in MNCs and encouraged them to become a role model for the state’s youth by sharing their success stories. The selected students also thanked the State Government for organizing the job fair amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
HP CM condoles demise of MG Vaidya
Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the demise of RSS ideologue MG Vaidya. Thakur said that MG Vaidya was a distinguished writer, journalist and an institution by himself. He contributed extensively to strengthen the RSS for decades. The Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
144 complaints received by CGRF DHBVN, 101 by UHBVN
Chandigarh: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam’s (DHBVN) Consumers Grievances Redressal Forum (CGRF) received 144 complaints from July 1 to September 30. A spokesperson said, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN)'s CGRF received 101 complaints from July 1 to September 30. Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) had issued directions to both the corporation's CGRF to visit the concerned circles for resolving the complaints of the electricity consumers, he added. In the last financial year 2019-20, UHBVN’s CGRF had received 230 complaints and DHBVN’s CGRF had received 535 complaints.
Lawyers hold cycle rally in support of farmers
Chandigarh: Advocates of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, on the 21st day of peaceful protest by the Lawyers in Solidarity with Farmers (LSF) Chandigarh, on Sunday organized a cycle rally from Sector-35 Kissan Bhawan to Sukhna Lake, and concluded it at Sector-17 Plaza in view of the farmers’ unions’ call to pay homage to the persons who lost their lives in ongoing agitation against the Centre’s farm laws.
Chandigarh Mayor inaugurates community centre
Chandigarh: Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh inaugurated newly built community centre at Indra Colony, Manimajra here. During the inauguration, the Mayor said, this community centre has been built in total 8400 sqft having a plot area of 18787 sqft including parking area of 3200 sqft. At the ground floor, there is a bridal room, office, hall, kitchen, pantry, caretaker room, gents and ladies toilets while gymnasium, bride room, library, three rooms, gents ladies toilets have been provided at the first floor at a total expenditure of Rs 1.67 crore.
Webinar on science behind fabrics and fashion
Kapurthala: Pushpa Gujral Science City organized a webinar on ‘The Science Behind the Traditional Fabrics of India and the Fashion World’ at its Women Technology Park. Punjab’s Principal Secretary (Water Supply and Sanitation Department) Jaspreet Talwar was the chief guest of the event which saw the participation of around 300 students of fashion designing colleges or institute, schools and general masses. PGSC director general Dr Neelima Jerath said that innovation science and technology have helped to develop new types of clothes.
