Injured BJP leader not medically fit to give statement: UT Police

The Chandigarh Police is yet to record the statement of BJP leader and former Chairman of the Haryana Sugarfed Chander Prakash Kathuria who was injured after he fell while escaping from the second floor of a building in Sector 63 where he had gone to meet a female friend on Friday evening.

Talking to The Pioneer over the phone, Surinder Singh, SHO, Police Station- 49 said that police team has been formed and they are investigating the incident. Kathuria had suffered injuries on a leg. As per medical report, he is not serious but not in a position to record his statement before the police, he added. 

Chandigarh Police took him to the PGI and later he was shifted to a private hospital in tricity.

They said that Kathuria, who is in his 50s had gone to House Number 2214 in an SUV. In the meantime, a person pressed the door bell. In a bid to avoid the person, Kathuria tried to flee through the balcony by using a cloth. However he fell and got injured.

Local people gathered after they saw him lying injured on the floor and later informed the police. Police reached the spot on information. A PCR reached the spot and took him to the PGI. After this incident, a daily diary report was made at the Sector 49 Police Station in Chandigarh. The police sought permission from the doctor to take a statement, but the doctor told Kathuria to be unfit for this. Further investigation is underway, they added.
