As the number of coronavirus positive cases surge in the National Capital, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC) has launched a special home isolation service to provide care and treatment to mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic patients at home.
The non-institutional care program includes a series of services such as on-call nurse, tele-review with doctor, online yoga session, a medical kit as well as home delivery of medicines, a senior hospital official said.
The program, consisting of two types of packages – a 14-day package and a 17-day package – will aid the government’s proposition of non-institutional quarantine of patients who can avoid hospitalisation, and reduce pressure on the in-hospital infrastructure. The standard services in both the packages will include call with diet counselling to boost immunity, daily vital monitoring through an on-call trained nurse twice a day, tele-review with treating consultant, and a kit including thermometer, pulse oximeter for monitoring temperature and oxygen saturation levels, and delivery of medicines.
The programme which has been designed to take wholesome care of patients also offers additional services of psychology counselling and telerehabilitation on demand.
Dr H S Chhabra, medical director of ISIC “The steady rise of coronavirus patients in Delhi is a matter of serious concern. As number of patients rises, we will face shortage of beds and hospital facilities. It is important therefore that hospital beds are saved for only severely ill patients who need institutional care,”
“Our home isolation services are designed to help such people seek care during home isolation and recover effectively. This non-institutional quarantine service package will allow more space for those who need admission to the hospital,” he added.
