Jamshedpur’s recovery rate improves to 75.9 %

Amidst ongoing rising cases of COVID-19, the recovery rate of the city has improved to 75.9 per cent while the State’s recovery rate is 73.38 per cent. The recovery of patients is best so far.The coronavirus cases have crossed 10,000 in less than five month time.

District civil surgeon, Rajendra Nath Jha said although the number of coronavirus positive cases crossed 10,000 marks in the district, the recovery rate is also improving.  The civil surgeon pointed out that. Meanwhile, despite restrictions imposed, the city markets continued to witness heavy rush posing threat of spreading of the virus. More, several shopkeepers continue to flout norms of masks and social distancing. 

 The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients at Tata Main Hospital has also improved from 78.28 per cent to 80.57 per cent. According to the senior management of the hospital, the recovery rate is a good signal for the city. While the world’s recovery rate is 78.28 per cent and India’s recovery rate is 77.77 per cent, the rate at TMH is a good trend.

The Kolhan Division which was under green zone, came under coronavirus map with two persons testing positive at Chakulia, under East Singhbhum district on May 12. However, with the arrival of migrants the figures started to increase and now it is about to reach 11000. The Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar has also appealed to the people of the district to strictly follow the rules of social distancing. Even a slight negligence can hit many people in corona. He advised people to strictly adhere to physical distance and essentially use masks and sanitizers.

The district health department has intensified drive to conduct rapid corona tests to detect corona cases at the early stage. Rapid tests were conducted at different housing societies at Jugsalai and Sakchi market areas.

A district health department confirmed that fresh cases of COVID deaths have been reported from the COVID-designated hospitals. " The tentacle of Coronavirus is very much in the steel city and in the rural pockets of the East Singhbhum district.  But it is for certain that if the people start to pay utmost attention in maintaining social distance, keeping one's hand sanitised again and again and wearing a mask, the Coronavirus has to go soon," said Jha.
