At a time amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown to deal with the coronavirus infection, individuals from different walks of life and other institutions are providing food and other essential commodities to the economically weaker population.

At the same time Jharkhand Animal Welfare Society (JAWS), the city's first animal welfare organisation is all set to provide cooked food to the stray animals such as dogs, bulls, cats and others animals in the different areas of the city in a phased manner. These helpless and innocent animals are not getting food and water due to the lockdown.

JAWS president Dr. Arun Kumar Jha and animal lover Aakash De today ferried Khichdi made of rice, pulses and turmeric, bread and biscuits in the Animal Ambulance to the various locations started from Baliguma.

Later the drive continued to Mango, Dimna Road, Old Court Campus Sakchi via Marine Drive to Sonari, Kadama, Bistupur, Jugasalai, Tatanagar station, Khasmahal, Burmamines, Howrah Bridge, Karim City College. Jharkhand state secretary of Trinamool Congress and an avid animal lover associated with the campaign,

Dey says that due to the nationwide lockdown huge shortage of food and drinking water have been surfaced for these helpless animals. He requested the general public to arrange food and water for these creatures outside their houses in an earthen pot, so that not only animals but birds could also quench their thirst.

Shubhodeep Chakladar and Babulal Tudu played an important role in making this event a success. Oindrila Mallick, Mishti Sarkar, Somesh Ganguly, Utkarsh Kashyap and Amrapali Roy had also actively supported the campaign.
