JMM, Congress vow to protest against Agro Bills

Tuesday, 22 September 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress on Monday decided to protest against the Agricultural Products Trade and Commerce Bill and Agricultural Assurance Agreement bill passed by the Central Government.

Addressing media persons JPCC Chief Rameshwar Oraon said that the anti-farmers draconian law will be written with black ink in the history of India. Congress workers will protest against this law against farmers and states in the entire State, he added.

A meeting of senior officials of JPCC was convened today the Bill across the State after the completion of the ongoing monsoon session of the State Assembly.

“The farmers fear that the minimum support price based procurement system will end and exploitation by private companies will increase. The strategy of state-wide programs will be decided after the monsoon session. The bill will be opposed in the same way as the Central Government tried to tamper with the Land Acquisition Act,” said Oraon.

Attacking the Central Government, the JPCC Chief said that the law has been made in accordance with the big industrialists, who wish to dominate the Indian food and agriculture business, which will undermine the bargaining power of farmers.

JPCC Spokespersons, Alok Dubey, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo and Rajesh Gupta were also present in the meeting. Speaking on the issue, JMM General Secretary and Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattachrya said that the party will not allow the big capitalists to exploit the poor farmers of the State and it will strongly protest against the bill.

“The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government has tried to provide benefits to its friends in the corporate world through the bill so that they can earn huge profit on the basis of farmers. This will increase hoarding and big capitalist will get huge benefit from it,” said Bhattacharya.

The party General Secretary said that JMM will protest against the Bill from farms and the farmers are very aware, they will not allow corporate companies to enter into the farms. The Left Parties also said that they will protest against the bill and on September, 25 the Farmers Organisations will hold Bharat Bandh on the issue.
