District administration has chalked out plans to carry out special cleanliness and sanitation drives in all markets on weekends when all shops will be shut to contain the spread of COVID-19. The plan is to keep markets shut in phase-wise manner and launch such drives.
During the closure, the civic bodies will clean, sanitise, fumigate and disinfect the marketplaces as a precautionary and safety measure to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19, with the city and district reporting a number of fresh positive cases almost every other day for the past couple of weeks.
The administration is working on plans to sanitise other key markets by keeping the areas shut during the weekend. The idea is also to maintain social distancing.
Meanwhile, following orders for closure of vegetable markets in three urban civic body areas — Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC ) and Jugsalai Municipality vegetable markets remained shut on Sunday.
