Saturday, 19 September 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

The coalition Government of JMM, Congress and RJD in the State decided that Jharkhand Land Mutation Bill-2020 will not be introduced in its present form in the ongoing monsoon session of the State Assembly.

Following this general opinion of the legislators of JMM, Congress and RJD in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Government decided to introduce the land mutation bill in a revised form. The Chief Minister also interacted with the media and said that the Government is considering only after assessing the right and wrong, a bill will be brought in the Assembly.

It may be noted that the Government is intending to amend this bill and it is believed that part of the Revenue Officers’ Protection Act prepared earlier will be separated from it. In view of the opposition of JMM and Congress MLAs, the Government has taken the whole issue sensitively and the Chief Minister will bring it to the House only after discussions with his core team.

In view of the opposition of the Congress MLAs, late Thursday night, JPCC Chief Rameshwar Oraon and Congress Legislative Party Leader, Alamgir Alam went to meet the Chief Minister and apprised him of the protest on the issue in the Congress Legislature Party. According to sources, RPN Singh, in-charge of JPCC, is also not in favour of introducing this bill.

A meeting of the Congress Legislature Party was held on Thursday in Congress Bhawan, Ranchi under the chairmanship of Alamgir Alam,. On this occasion, Oraon was also present. Apart from this, the MLAs also requested to review the policy changes during the previous Raghubar Government.

The land mutation bill was discussed in detail in the meeting. In view of the opposition of the public, the party decided that the Government would be requested to take a decision after consulting with the party. The bill was first opposed by MLA Bandhu Tirkey, after which other MLAs stood in support.  Alam, who was chairing the meeting, assured the MLAs that he would definitely discuss the issue with the Chief Minister.

The party Ministers in the State Government Banna Gupta, Badal, MLA Pradeep Yadav, Bandhu Tirkey, Umashankar Akela, Mamta Devi, Purnima Neeraj Singh, Deepika Pandey Singh, Sonaram Sinku, Ramchandra Singh, Bhushan Bada were present in the meeting.
