On the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to launch crackdown on hardened criminals after preparing their list, the director general of police drafted a list of mafias in the state and officials have been asked to collect details of their active henchmen, those financing them, the illegal wealth amassed by them through criminal activities etc.
The sleuths of the Special Task Force along with the local police will now round up the mafias’ associates, register cases against them under UP Gangster Act and later confiscate their properties.
Interestingly, the list prepared by the UP Police has majority of mafias who are already in jail but running their criminal activities from there and are even indulging in extortion from industrialists, politicians and even having their “share” in many government tenders.
Sources said that in the list prepared by the DGP office, Mukhtar Ansari, now lodged in Rupad Jail in Punjab, tops the list followed by Umesh Rai aka Gaura Rai, lodged in Central jail in Rampur, Tribhuwan Singh aka Pawan Kumar, lodged in Central jail in Mirzapur, Atiq Ahmed, lodged in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat, Khan Mubarak lodged in Lucknow jail, Mohammed Saleem, lodged in Central jail in Fatehgarh, Mohammed Rustam, lodged in Kanpur jail, Om Prakash Srivastava aka Babloo Srivastava, lodged in Bareilly Central jail, Brijesh Kumar Singh aka Arun Kumar Singh, lodged in Varanasi Central jail, Subhash Singh Thakur,  lodged in Fatehgarh Central jail, Dhruv Kumar Singh aka Kumtu Singh, lodged in Ballia jail, Munir, lodged in Mandoli Jail in New Delhi etc.
The others whose names figures in the list are Lallu Yadav, Ajay Singh aka Ajay Sipahi, Ramesh Singh Kaka, MLC Sanjeev Dwivedi aka Ramu Dwivedi, now on bail, Mulayam Yadav, Rajesh Yadav, Bachcha Pasi, Dileep Mishra, Sanjeev Maheshwari aka Jeewa, Sunder Bhati aka Netaji, Anil Dujana aka Anil Nagar, Anil Bhati, Singh Raj Bhati, Susheel aka Munch, Ankit Gujjar, Amit Kasana, Akash Jat, Udham Singh. Yogesh Bhadauria, Ajeet aka Happu, Besides the above, the STF also prepared a list on most wanted criminals and formed teams to launch a crack down on them.
Meanwhile, the Ghazipur district administration has demolished a godown built on grabbed public land, and is probing into some irregularities involving a hotel. Both the properties are jointly owned by the wife of don-turned-BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari, officials said on Sunday.
The godown was built in place of a pond by M/s Vikas Construction in which Ansari’s wife Afsa Begum and his brother-in-law Aatif Raja besides three others — Zakir Hussain, Ravindra Narayan Singh and Anwar Shahzada — are partners, said Ghazipur District Magistrate Om Prakash Arya.
The firm’s owners fudged the records of the pond in Fathepur village, measuring over five bighas, and got the land registered in their names, he said, adding they later they built a godown over it and rented it out to Food Corporation of India.
The godown was demolished on Saturday along with its boundary wall and the administration has initiated action in the mater, the DM added.
Meanwhile, Ghazipur SDM Prabhas Kumar said the district administration had also issued a notice to the owners of Gajal Hotel built in Mahubagh locality of the city over some irregularities involving it.
The hotel is owned by Afsa Begum and her sons Abbas Ansari and Umar Ansari, Kumar added.
“Several shortcomings have been found in the hotel, and a notice has been issued to its owners,” he said.
Mukhtar Ansari is a sitting BSP MLA from Mau assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
