Chhattisgarh Police on Friday seized 62.50 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 36.25 lakh and arrested a 28-year-old man in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district who was transporting it from Odisha to Raipur.
Gariaband Additional Superintendent of Police Sukhnandan Rathore told The Pioneer over telephone that the accused, Vijay Puruswani, is a resident of Raipur.
The action was taken based on a tip that the contraband was being taken to Raipur from Odisha via Gariaband National Highway NH-130C, the officer said.
The police intercepted a car (CG-04, LY-9922) near a village in the Chhura police station limits.
The police found the cannabis in it. A mobile phone, some cash and the car were also seized, Rathore said.
On Wednesday, police arrested a 21-year-old man for ferrying 32.46 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 3.24 lakh from Odisha.
