Man held for dowry death after wife commits suicide

Gandhi Nagar police booked a 24-year-old man for harassing his 21-year-old wife to commit suicide by consuming poison on June 19 ; police found that the deceased was harassed by her husband. According to the police, the deceased, Afroz Khan was found hanging and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. In the initial investigation, police found that the deceased committed suicide while family members were asleep. During the investigation, police have reason behind the suicide that she was harassed for dowry. Initially after the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem and a case under section 174 of the CrPC was registered by the police. Later in the investigation, police found that the deceased was harassed by her husband and in-laws demanding dowry and claims of harassment were made by her family members in the complaint.The police registered a case under section 304 B of the IPC and section 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act against the three accused. Case against Afroz’s husband Shawar Khan alais Shabu. During  investigation police found that Afroz mentioned was harassed demanding dowry by her husband and his family members.
