Man held with 2.50 kg gold biscuits in Raipur

nChhattisgarh Police on Tuesday arrested a   49-year-old man and seized gold biscuits   weighing 2.50 kg valued at Rs 1.25 crore here.

Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav told The Pioneer that Ashok Bera, a resident of Professor Colony in Raipur, was intercepted in a car (CG-04, ML-3978) near Magneto Mall in the Telibandha police station limits.

The man first insisted he had no gold biscuits but these were found in the car, the officer said. He failed to produce            documents showing their ownership.

The man later told the police that he         purchased the yellow metal from West Bengal and brought it to Raipur for selling it. The man also confessed to evading income tax, the officer added.

Police seized the gold biscuits as well as the car, Yadav said.
