A 28-year-old man who was looking for a job was allegedly killed by two unknown miscreants in a 'road rage' incident during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in Gurugram.
The deceased has been identified as Pankaj of Mahendragarh district in Haryana. He was currently residing in a rented accommodation along with his friend Ajay (26) at Rajiv Nagar in Gurugram.
Pankaj came to Gurugram a week ago in search of a job. The police are yet to nab the accused.
Pankaj’s friend Ajay (26), who belongs to the same district, told the police that Pankaj had received a phone call at around 1 am.
"After the phone call, Pankaj told me that he has to go somewhere and asked me to accompany him on his motorcycle," Ajay said.
According to police, when the duo reached near Jharsa village service lane on the Delhi-Jaipur expressway the petrol of their bike had run out so they started looking for a petrol pump and started while pushing the bike along.
"When the duo reached a park which was located a few meters away from the petrol pump on the expressway at around 2.30 am, two men came on a scooty approached the victims, threatened both of them and started beating both of them without any reason," said Subhash Boken, spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
"During the incident Ajay ran away from the spot while the accused beat Pankaj mercilessly and slapped and punched him on his face, stomach and private parts and rode away from the spot leaving the injured Pankaj on the expressway," Boken said.
Later Pankaj’s friend took him to a doctor where he received first-aid treatment.
“But later at around 4 am on Tuesday morning due to internal injuries Pankaj served acute pain in his private parts. The victim’s friend again rushed him to a private hospital where they referred him to the general hospital in Gurugram, where he succumbed to his injuries,” Boken added.
In connection with the incident an FIR has been registered against unknown culprits at Sector-40 police station.
“We are scanning the CCTV footage of the incident spot to identify the criminals. We are also accumulating more information about the criminals from the deceased’s friend. Further probe into the matter is underway and efforts are on to nab the criminals,” he said.
