Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who holds the PWD portfolio, asked officials to take up incomplete road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) on a war footing and complete them within the deadline.
Stressing on expediting pending projects of repair and road broadening, Maurya said that PWD was carrying out works in 43 districts while Rural Engineering Services (RES) was carrying out works in 32 districts.
“The PWD is engaged in 84 projects of broadening of 73 roads and 11 bridges with a budget of Rs 544.44 crore. The total length of 73 roads taken up is 772.35 km costing Rs 514.04 crore while the length of 11 bridges is 372.55 metres with a budget of Rs 30.39 crore,” he said.
Maurya further said, “In the last three years, 486 roads were broadened (total length 3655.37 kilometres) on which Rs 1842.70 crore was spent by the government. Now work is in full swing and we will be able to meet the deadline while maintaining quality.”
“Under Purvanchal Development Fund, the government released Rs 2.56 crore for six projects of Ballia. This is the second instalment of the Rs 6.39 crore budget sanctioned by the government and a notification has been issued. The CDO (chief development officer) of Ballia has been instructed to clear funds in phases for these six projects with the completion of work, instead of releasing the entire budged. The CDO has also been asked to take work completion certificate before releasing funds and submit it to Auditor General of UP as per government guidelines.
