Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati stressed the need for taking collective decisions and working together while keeping the wider interests in mind.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the BSP chief posted, “In view of the challenges arising from the spread of coronavirus in the country, the Centre and state governments need to work in complete coordination and take the next decision only after considering the livelihood of 130 crore people and wider interest.”
She further posted, “The BSP will certainly welcome such decisions which are in interest of the public.”
Earlier on Friday, Mayawati had appealed to everyone to support the government in its fight against coronavirus. She had directed BSP MPs and MLAs to donate Rs 1 crore each from Local Area Development fund to help the needy during this medical emergency.
“In view of the challenges that have arisen due to coronavirus spread, it is my appeal, especially to BSP MLAs of UP that they provide Rs 1 crore from their LAD fund like MPs of the party, to help the needy people. Other BSP people should also take care of their neighbours,” Mayawati tweeted.
Mayawati’s gesture of helping the needy in this hour of crisis was welcomed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who called the BSP chief and appreciated her move.
