Microsoft to set up campus at Greater Noida

Thursday, 02 July 2020 | PNS | Lucknow

In a major boost to the state’s efforts of drawing in investments, Microsoft agreed to bring its next campus of 4,000 employees in Greater Noida.

The virtual agreement by Microsoft India Managing Director Rajiv Kumar took place in a discussion with MSME Minister Sidharth Nath Singh and would soon be followed by a site visit by Microsoft.

“The state is set to roll out the red carpet to Microsoft to make it easier to do business. The government earlier said that it will make it simpler for investors willing to acquire land within 1 km on each side of the state’s expressways,” Singh said.

“The company has said that they want to move their North India campus to Greater Noida. The next step will be a site inspection by the team along Yamuna Expressway followed by their proposal which the government will examine,” Singh said, without indicating the scale of planned investment.

The software major currently has two campuses of 5,000 and 2,000 capacities at its headquarters in Hyderabad and in Bengaluru.

On the other hand, UP plans to develop an electronics manufacturing park near Jewar International Airport along Yamuna Expressway connecting Greater Noida with Agra.

Companies planning to start manufacturing will be entitled to subsidies and incentives by the state, over and above what the Centre’s offers. Other companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro and Haier are also in various levels of discussions with the state government on bringing in investments in Noida/Greater Noida region.
