Absence of a tribal face from Santhal Pargana said to be the traditional bastion of ruling party Jharkhand Mukti Morcham in the newly constituted committee of State BJP is said to have raised eyebrows of several leaders in the party. State BJP president Deepak Prakash on last Friday constituted 102 members committee, which has adequate representation to tribal faces, but most of them are from South Chottanagpur and Kolhan region covering Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, West and East Singhbhum region.
Some of the tribal faces who figure in the new committee include former minister Neelkanth Singh Munda, former MLA Gangotri Kujur, Rajya Sabha MP Samir Oraon, Ashok Baraik among others.
A senior BJP leader from Santhal Pargana region requesting anonymity said, “Santhal Pargana is a bastion of JMM, every time BJP eyes to conquer the region but has failed in its attempt.
If leaders from Santhal Pargana are not given adequate representation in organization then how can BJP win the trust of people of Santhal region.”
If tribal leaders from Santhal region are left in the new committee the other big surprise is ignoring leaders from erstwh0ile JVM camp that joined the BJP along with Babulal Marandi in February this year.
Sources said that in the new committee many leaders from the erstwhile JVM camp who were eyeing key posts in the organization have been left out.
However, BJP General Secretary Samir Oraon said, “It is not an issue. No one has been ignored. Santhal leaders will be given adequate representation in the committee in days to come. Also from Santhal we have biggest leader Babulal Marandi who has been made as BJP legislative party leader, but the state government is creating obstacles in Marandi’s appointment as leader of Opposition.”
Also there is resentment among Sikh community who feel cheated as not a single member of the fraternity has been featured in the state list of the BJP.
The BJP on Friday constituted its 102 member new committee. The new committee comprises eight vice presidents, one organizational secretary, three general secretaries, eight secretaries, seven spokespersons among others.
