Mission Shakti completes its first phase

Launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath  to ensure safety, dignity and empowerment of women and girls, Mission Shakti, completed its first phase with active participation from 24 government departments, private establishments, social organisations and NGOs. The ambitious programme was launched on the first day of Sharadiya Navratra on October 17.

The Mission Shakti, to be continued for the next six months till Basant Navratra, witnessed a series of events in conformity with its theme and created awareness not only among women but the society in general.

An official communiqué confirmed on Saturday that some major decisions and endeavours initiated during the first phase reaffirmed the CM’s commitment towards protection of women’s rights and their rightful place in the society.

At the outset, Yogi had directed to identify 100 role models among women and girls in every district aiming to showcase their achievements and contributions which could be inspirational for others to emulate.

The communiqué said that a series of decisions were also taken to further the cause of Mission Shakti like - Women Help Desk at all 1535 police stations of the state, dedicated Women’s Help desk at all 350 Tehsils to resolve revenue-related complaints of women and deployment of women personnel at these help desks.

Besides it was also decided to have 20 percent of women compulsarily in UP Police force for reaching out to women victims.

The government also decided to add  regional languages in the 112 emergency help line so that people from different regions and dialects could easily convey their problems.

Even while appointment letters were given to 31,277 Basic Education teachers and 3,317 Secondary Education teachers, women in both categories outnumbered men.

Besides, the state government inaugurated ‘Pink Patrol’ in which 100 scooties and 10 SUVs were flagged off in Lucknwo with 250 women cops to guard major public places of the city. The Pink Patrol will be extended to other cities of the state in the second phase.

Also Pink Booths were to be set up at sensitive and vantage locations to facilitate women in every distress or emergency. Pink booths were earlier at major crossings of Lucknow on October 17.

Apart from this, Transparent Secret Rooms are to be set up across all police stations and women cops would be deployed to ensure that women victims could share problems with ease and comfort.
