The State Government has planned to undertake livelihood and wage employment activities in rural areas post lockdown period.
On Wednesday, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy directed district Collectors to take up more employment-intensive projects under the MGNREGS and Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM) programmes.
Development Commissioner SC Mohapatra advised that DMF districts may give additional daily wages in MGNREGS projects for attracting more labourers. Panchayati Raj Secretary Deo Rajnjan Kumar Singh suggested issuing of new job cards to the willing migrant workers.
The Collectors were directed to start at least two works in each village by June 1.
It was targeted that 20 lakh man-days per day would be created by May 31. As of today, around 12 lakh man-days are being provided. The Chief Secretary directed for 100% timely payment of the wages.
