No entry of Ganjam, Jajpur people in Angul

Sunday, 12 July 2020 | PNS | ANGUL

As a preventive measure to contain further spread of coronavirus in Angul, the administration on Saturday banned entry of people from two Covid-19 hotspot districts, Ganjam and Jajpur, to Angul district.

Exercising power conferred under Section 34(b) & (c) of the National Disaster Management Act-2005, Angul Collector Manoj Kumar Mohanty imposed the ban.

“If anyone from Ganjam and Jajpur districts comes to this district on some compelling ground, he/she shall be kept in institutional quarantine for a period of 14 days,” an order issued by the Angul Collectorate said. The order came into force with immediate effect.

The order stated, “It is noticed that people coming from Ganjam and Jajpur districts are mostly found Covid-19 positive and they are spreading it to others. So, it is quite essential to take strict measures to curb the spread of the disease in this district.”

Any person violating the order shall be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act-2005. Besides, legal action shall be taken against the violator under Section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions as applicable, the order added.
